I had the pleasure to march in the Crossmen with Michelle from 1991-1994. We aged out together and I have always been proud to call her a friend. Many stories will be told about her time as a member and what she meant to anyone who came in contact with her. However, I would rather talk about the final time I saw Michelle.

I was fortunate enough to travel to Indianapolis in the summer of 2016 to watch DCI. We learned that Jeff and

Michelle would be at Lucas Oil Stadium and that they would be in the sky suites. Kathy and I were able to talk our way onto the Suite level and as we were walking along the upper concourse when we were greeted by that amazing smile we all know so well.

Michelle gave us both a huge hug and we all said how wonderful it was to see each other. Michelle knew I had a rather serious health problem in April of 2016 and one of the first things she said to me was "How are you feeling?" For as much of a struggle as it was for Michelle to attend the event, even though the discomfort, pain, and

exhaustion that she endured must have been nearly overwhelming, her first thoughts were to ask me how I was doing. I was, and am still amazed, at her ability to care so much for other people...and bring a smile to their face.

Like others, I will miss Michelle. I am saddened I cannot look upon that smile any longer. However, that smile burns brightly in my mind's eye and when I think about it, I smile. She has brought so much to so many people.

I hope we can all smile every time we think of her.
