One of my favorite memories with Michelle is from being on tour with the Crossmen in '98. My Mom, Sister and I were on tour volunteering that summer and I was going to be celebrating my 11th birthday. Every day I would go and watch Michelle with the guard as she would prepare them for the next show. My Mom liked when I went to these practices because I wasn't in her hair, she would tell me to go find Michelle, and no matter what when I would walk up she would have the biggest welcoming smile. Michelle always had something for me to do, whether helping her get some equipment or just watching the guard to make sure they were in sync, which as a young child surrounded by so many adults made you feel so special. On the day of my birthday, I found it weird that not only did my sister come with me to watch practice but so did my Mom and (Aunt) Kim (Owens). When I got to the practice, I saw Michelle see me and smile, she then stopped rehearsal (which from what I knew - she rarely ever did) and the guard all started to come towards me. Michelle and her guard sang 'Happy Birthday' and then all gathered around and gave me the biggest hug. It was one of my favorite birthdays and I will always remember the big smile on Michelle's face and her warm embrace to make me feel so special.
